Digital Media Specialist, Office of Communications

Report to:
Assistant Director for Video Production

The digital media specialist is responsible for filming, editing and uploading videos created by the communications office. The job holder assists in all aspects of video production from the creative concept to the online dissemination of videos.

Principal Accountabilities:

    Responsible for independently shooting, editing and publishing videos
    Work closely with editorial teams to identify potential stories
    Ensure all videos are uploaded online to appropriate channels
    Understand and adapt to the demands of a deadline-based editorial team
    Be able to follow a brief and also establish how to get the best performances out of different presenters
    Ability to edit to tight turnaround time
    Coordinate the acquisition and utilization of videos created by students and other members of the American University in Cairo (AUC) community

Minimum education requirement: BA required, preferably in mass communications, film, television journalism or a related field

Two to three years work experience in video production

    Good experience with shooting videos according to pre-set storyboards or story lines
    Experience with and knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut Studio Pro, Adobe After Effects, iMovie and Adobe Creative Suite), media codecs, streaming technology, encoding software and motion graphics
    Good journalistic writing skills
    Experience working in studios and on location
    Strong online publishing skills (on websites, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.) and experience with social media
    Familiarity with video production principles and techniques
    Proficiency in English and Arabic
