Mobile Banking Business in Afghanistan

Mobile banking business in Afghanistan has only one player which is M-Paisa.


With M-Paisa you can:
Deposit Cash: put money into an M-Paisa account
Withdraw Cash: take money out of an M-Paisa account
Send and Receive Money: send money to family, friends or business partners and receive money from the mentioned parties.
Receive and Repay Loans: you can receive and repay a loan from FMFB (1st Micro Finance Bank) For clients of participating MFIs
Buy Airtime: refill prepaid airtime or purchase Roshan credit.
Receive Salaries: you can receive your salary if you are an employee of participating companies.




There is no need to have a bank account, no minimum balance and no monthly fee required to transfer money with M-Paisa.


What do I need to register for M-Paisa?
Roshan SIM , Valid National ID or Passport , Photograph
Register for M-Paisa: Go to an M-Paisa/Roshan airtime dealer and:

Upgrade your SIM for free if necessary
Complete the registration forms
The agent will register you in the system and you will receive a start key on your handset
Activate the M-Paisa menu using your phone and the start key you received
You will receive a secret word on your handset.

Activate your M-Paisa Account:
The M-Paisa menu can be found by selecting “SIM Services” from your menu
Select “M-Paisa” and then “Activate” . Enter your start key and create a new secret PIN number. When asked to enter ID, enter your NID number or date of birth and wait for a confirmation message
